Follow the herd to Big Valley campsite, just a short drive from WA’s adventure playground – Margaret River.

There’s something about country air, rolling hills and a campfire that makes you want to settle back into your camp chair and take it all in. At Big Valley Campsite you get your own slice of peaceful countryside in which to relax from the buzz of the Margaret River region. Located on a working sheep farm, the campsite features a warm welcome from owners Kylie Silverthorne and her parents, as well as their furry and feathered farm friends.

Your Hosts

Kylie Silverthorne runs the Big Valley Campsite alongside her parents Kevin and Shelley who started the camp in 1991. As a 3rd generation sheep farmer and 2nd generation park manager, Kylie has a wealth of experience to draw on from her family. Plus, combining the two – a sheep farm with a campsite – makes for some interesting stories along the way.

While the sheep mean business on the farm, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was the chickens running the show. A few of them like to hang around waiting for campers to drop a crumb or two. And nevermind crossing the road, some have been so eager to hit the pavement, they’ve climbed aboard campers’ motorhomes.

There was one couple that left the park only to call from Bunbury (100km away) and say they had a chicken on board. Kylie was kind enough to give the chicken free range – so it was allowed to keep travelling with the couple around Australia.
