XTM Performance, the Aussie brand known for its snow and outdoor clothes and supplier of gear to the Australian Winter Olympic Team, is now a certified B Corp!

B Corp certifications are dished out by the not-for-profit B Lab, and are the highest distinction offered to companies committed to making social and environmental practices a core part of their business (like us here at We Are Explorers).

To gain certification as a B Corp XTM needed a minimum overall score of 80 points on an assessment of the entire business’ structure. The team completed the assessment with a final score of 107.8 – not a bad result considering it was their first attempt!

Founder of XTM Performance, Pete Forras explained, ‘This has been a huge team effort and a culmination of over 20 years of sustainable goals and actions. Achieving B Corp certification underscores our ongoing commitment to make a positive impact on both people and the planet’.

XTM Performance is B Corp certified

What has XTM Performance done to become a B Corp?

Some of the ways XTM has proven its planet-and-people-first approach include:

  • Working with the Carbon Reduction Institute since 2009 to become 100% carbon neutral
  • Its Heat the Homeless initiative that donates, collects, and distributes pre-loved winter jackets to those enduring homelessness and hardship
  • Its recent undertaking of a Reconciliation Action Plan guided by the wisdom and support of Marsha Uppil, a proud Adnyamathanha woman
  • Using eco-friendly and ethically sourced materials like Woolmark® certified Aussie Merino wool, TENCELTM and recycled fabrics
  • Rolling out its Sustainable Packaging Strategy, delivering goods in packaging that’s completely biodegradable, compostable, reusable or recyclable
  • Its self-sufficient headquarters in Torquay, Victoria

‘For us, sustainability is not just a destination; it’s a journey. We know there is still a long way to go but we are committed to pushing the boundaries of environmental and social business practices to ensure our planet remains a playground for generations to come’, Peter Forras said.

XTM joins the ranks of other brands like Patagonia, Kathmandu and Zorali who are shaking up the snow and outdoor industry with their positive-impact approach to business.
