It’s time to downclimb and pull up a comfy seat instead, because Reel Rock 20 is returning to Aussie and Kiwi screens this November.

Reel Rock World Tour’s 20th edition is bringing a new collection of world-class climbing films to cinemas and community venues to share stories of ambitious, relentless, and resilient humans as they pursue the near impossible.

Founded in 2005 by Josh Lowell, Peter Mortimer, and Nick Rosen, creators of iconic adventure films like Valley Uprising, The Alpinist, and The Dawn Wall, Reel Rock is presented in Australia and New Zealand by Adventure Entertainment.

What’s on the Reel Rock program?

This year, there are four films showcasing three extraordinary climbing journeys.

The lead film (haha) follows two-time Olympic gold medalist Janja Garnbret as she tackles the legendary Bibliographie in Céüse, France. The 5.15c (38) climb is one of the world’s hardest routes, full of challenges and demands far removed from international competition.

Meanwhile, elite alpinist Colin Haley heads to Patagonia in winter where he attempts a solo push of one of the region’s most unforgiving, yet iconic peaks – Cerro Torre.

Adaptive climber Ben Mayforth draws on sheer determination and will as he pursues an intense 5.13 (28), a climb that see him push the limits and expectations of what’s possible in adaptive climbing.

While Michaela Kiersch needs strength and perseverance as she attempts to make history by being the first woman to complete both a 5.15 and V15 – the ultimate climbing double. Her journey takes her from the legendary La Rambla in Spain to Dreamtime in Switzerland.
