Now no list of camping cooks would be complete without our very own CampStove Chef, who has written plenty of camping recipes right here at We Are Explorers.

Whether you’re looking to grill over a woodfire or whip up a quick hiking fix with your jetboil, the CampStove Chef has you sorted with a delightfully yummy and filling next meal. Aren’t quite keen on a meaty fix? They also have plenty of vegetarian-friendly recipes for those who like their camping meals a little more plant-based.

 

2. Sophie Hollingsworth

Described as ‘if Indiana Jones and Martha Stewart had a baby’, Sophie Hollingsworth is an insanely talented sustainability consultant with a passion for food and the outdoors.

When Sophie moved to Australia and bought herself a vintage Landcruiser, she found the beauty of cooking outdoors in the gorgeous Aussie outback. Her Instagram is definitely worth following if you want to fall in love with outdoor cooking – or just want to know how to smoke a whole pineapple!

If you really want a yum insta feed, definitely chuck The Gourmet Camp Chef a follow. Jon Riley is a former professional chef who has turned into a campfire cooking aficionado, and his recipes are absolutely drool-worthy.

If you’re looking for something meaty and slow-cooked over some hot coals, then The Gourmet Camp Chef is a great Instagram to check out. From Crispy Moroccan Fried Chicken to Chilli Mexican Beef, this page has everything you need to satisfy the carnivore in your life. Otherwise, check out some of their pastry and bread recipes, and see if you (or your kids) are brave enough to take on the S’mores Damper.

 

4. Sarah Glover

Sarah defines herself as a nature chef, and it’s not hard to see why. Her recipes celebrate beautiful, healthy, food cooked outdoors that’s inspired by seasonal produce.

She’s not only a cooking influencer, Sarah has published cookbooks, has a catering company, and a bikkie company – so you can trust she knows what she’s about. She’s published dozens of delightfully yummy recipes that are definitely worth a squiz before your next outdoorsy escape.

Campfire Australia seeks ‘to inspire a lifetime of cooking in the outdoors’, and after a minute or two scrolling their page, you’ll definitely feel inspired. There are plenty of fantastic recipes that are perfect for your next winter camping weekend, or even when you want to work on your campfire culinary skills.

If you’re a beginner in campfire cooking, then this is a great page for inspiration and education. In between yummy recipes, this Instagram page has plenty of pearls of wisdom including how to place your heat beads to looking after your cast iron skillet.

Mick The Camp Oven Cook is a South East Queenslander with a passion for promoting camp oven cooking. If you’re not sure what to cook on the campfire, definitely check this account out ASAP. With over fifty recipes, The Camp Oven Cook has all types of cozy campfire meals including dampers, stews, and classic chargrilled roasts.

Whether you need help even setting up your camp oven, or you’re still learning the ropes of campfire cooking, Mick has plenty of resources to get you started. He has everything you need to familiarise yourself with cooking over coals.

 

8. Offroad 4×4 Adventures

Located around Coffs Harbor, Nat, Ben and their kids love the 4WD life and so will you after checking out their page. As you follow their explorations around Australia, definitely keep an eye out for their campfire cooking recipes.

Harry Fisher cooks on a fire, always. He roves around WA with his family in a Toyota Prado and recently published a gorgeous 200-page book crammed full of tried and tested recipes.

Harry’s journey from accountant and investment banker to bush chef is one of following your passions and connecting to your roots. His popular YouTube channel of the same name has a cult following and is as Aussie as it gets.
