Alone Australia Season 2 lands on Aussie screens this week and to celebrate, SBS has launched * checks notes * a foul-smelling cologne?

Have you heard (or rather smelt) the newly launched ‘Alone Cologne‘? This unisex fragrance has been lovingly crafted as a dedication to the stench of Alone Australia Season 2 contestants after we-don’t-yet-know-how-long in the wilds of Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Marketed as ‘an ode to odour’ and featuring the scent of survival, the bottled stench has been a collab between creative agency and production company, Jack Nimble, and acclaimed perfumer, Ainslie Walker (yes apparently more than one group of people want credit for this!).

Naturally, ‘Alone Cologne’ was on display at the Alone Premiere in Sydney last week. Never shying away from a new experience, one of the WAE team members (name redacted) didn’t hesitate to douse herself in the stuff – much to the team’s amusement.

‘She smelt like she’d just rolled out of a ditch’, stated one colleague. I can only assume this is the desired effect.

Reports say that although the cologne isn’t for sale, it has been ‘released into the wild’. So maybe don’t be surprised if it turns up beside the campground drop toilet?

If you’re curious to learn more about what this fascinating new product could bring to your personal aroma, please delight in the smelling notes below:

‘Stale notes of campfire soot, rain-soaked dampness and earthy moss. This is followed by overwhelming notes of rotten game flesh, which sing in harmony with smoked fish skin, unwashed skin, and greasy hair. This pungent prelude is followed by a serenade of soured sweat and halitosis, bodily fluids, and a light after-whiff of the New Zealand wilderness.’

I think I’ll pass.
