About Liverpool Plains

Liverpool plains is an area located in the North west of NSW. nestled in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, the region is known for its agricultural industry, and in a small window each year, glorious fields of yellow sunflowers!

How To Get to Liverpool Plains

From Sydney, the drive to Liverpool Plains is about 4.5 hours.

  • Follow the Pacific Motorway out of Sydney and follow for 338km before turning left onto the Hunter Expressway towards Singleton
  • Follow the Hunter Expressway for 106km before turning right onto the New England Highway in Muswellbrook
  • After 83km the  Liverpool Plains Information Centre will be on your left in Willow Tree

The locations of the sunflower crop will change each season, but the good people at the Liverpool Plains Visitor Information Centre will help you out with a map and point you in the right direction.

Where are the sunflower farms in NSW?

The location of a sunflower field you can visit changes from year to year. The Liverpool Plains Visitor Information Centre on the New England Highway in Willow Tree can point you in the direction of a field where the farmer is kind enough to allow visitors.

Soon enough you’ll find yourself face to face with thousands of sunflowers almost as tall as you are! This is where the frolicking can commence. Find yourself any path you see fit and enjoy being immersed in the sea of sunflowers.

Please remember these flowers are the farmers’ livelihood, so take care where you tread and don’t damage the crop.

When do sunflowers bloom in NSW?

Flowering can happen any time between December and March each year, depending on when the crop was planted and the weather conditions each year. Flowering season lasts about three weeks.
