You’re stuck on one of the most southern islands on Earth and are only allowed ten pieces of gear. What do you take?

Alone Australia Season 2 premieres tonight! But before we dive into the episodes, let’s reflect on the list of gear this year’s contestants could select from to take with them into the wild. Each contestant is allowed to choose ten items from the below list. These items are in addition to first aid and safety equipment, camera gear, and the clothes on their back.

Not a lot has changed from last year’s list (the items in bold are the new additions!), but thanks to the change of location and rules around hunting, contestants had the option of taking a bow and arrows – which all of them did. This is sure to step the competition up a notch.

What did the Alone Australia Season 2 contestants take with them?

We don’t have the full breakdown of what every contestant took with them, but SBS has released a bit of an overview. We know that:

  • Everyone took a sleeping bag
  • 3 people took a water bottle
  • Everyone took a bow and arrows
  • Everyone took something to fish with
  • Everyone took something to cook with
  • 2 people took a salt block
  • 8 people took an axe
  • 4 people took a knife
  • Everyone took a Ferro rod

It seems no one did a Gina and opted for a possum-fur coat instead of a sleeping bag – I guess that means it’s anyone’s game. I look forward to watching and criticising from the comfort of my couch.
