AllTrails has released its data on the outdoor habits of Australians, as well as the top Aussie trails of 2025, according to its users.

In 2025, Aussies navigated almost 28 million kilometres on trails, a near three-fold increase on 2024. That put us in fourth position in the world for the most time spent on trails (per AllTrails member), behind the USA, New Zealand, and Canada.

According to AllTrails, Western Australians clock the most steps and time on the trail, with the highest average kilometres per member, Meanwhile backpacking and long-distance hikes have had the strongest growth, overtaking short-distance hikes and other activities like biking and paddling.
