A new MTB park has just opened in Yarra State Forest near Warburton, less than 1.5 hours from Melbourne.

Warburton Bike Park officially opened earlier this month, with over 1,100 riders spinning their wheels at the opening weekend. The first 30km of trails are ready for riding, with an additional 70km of trails expected to open by 2027.

The currently-open trails are mostly green and suited to beginners and above, with a few intermediate, and one difficult trail also in the mix. Riders can access the trails from the main trailhead at Wesburn Park. Check out the map.

‘These trails are a fantastic investment into the Warburton community and make it easier than ever for locals and visitors alike to get active in the Yarra Ranges’, says Senator for Victoria Lisa Darmanin.

The project has been led by Yarra Valley Shire Council, with input from Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation and Melbourne Water, with funding from both the federal and state governments as well as a grant from Warburton and Yarra Junction Community Bank.

‘The opening of these tracks is a significant milestone for the Warburton Bike Park. It’s an important project that will give the mountain biking community access to some beautiful and exciting terrain’, says Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos.

A shuttle will start operating in early 2026 to help riders get between trailheads. More trails are expected to open from 2026. Follow Warburton Bike Park Facebook page for up-to-date info on trail conditions.
