SurfAid is back at Bondi for its 9th Year.

Rally your mates, the SurfAid Cup is back at Bondi Beach for its ninth year, and promises to be bigger and better than before.

Mark your calendars for Friday, May 9th at Bondi, where you’ll have the chance to ride waves with pro surfers while raising funds to support families in remote surf communities. It’s all about good vibes, great waves, and making a real difference.

Why We Love the SurfAid Cup

The SurfAid Cup is SurfAid’s biggest fundraising event. Since kicking off in 2011 at Manly Beach, it’s become a global event held annually between Bondi, Manly, and URBNSURF in Australia, as well as Santa Cruz, Malibu, San Diego, and Surf Ranch in the USA.

In 2024, the SurfAid Cup raised over $50,000, and aims to raise an additional $25,000 this year to a total goal of $75,000 in 2025, as it’s SurfAid’s 25th anniversary.

‘By surfing in the SurfAid Cup Bondi, you’ll not only have an epic day with your mates competing against your favourite surf legends, you’ll also directly be improving the health and livelihoods of people living in remote communities in Indonesia’, says SurfAid CEO Doug Lees. ‘Your one day of surfing will have a lasting impact.’

The event is a tag-team surf comp, with each team consisting of four mates and a pro surfer. It’s your chance to ride the waves next to some of the best in the sport and compete for lifelong bragging rights.

Rally a Team!

Grab three of your surfing mates or family to make a team and start fundraising. Each team is asked to raise $5000 before the event, and the team that raises the most money by cup day will have first choice of which pro surfer joins their team!

In the past, surf legends like Mark ‘Occy’ Occhilupo, Tom Carroll, Shane Dorian, Laura Enever, and Matt ‘Wilko’ Wilkinson have been highly sought-after teammates!

The competition area will be set up at first light, with registrations opening at 7:30am. There’ll be a series of relay heats, then semi-finals and finals, followed by an awards ceremony to crown the Surfing & Fundraising Champions. Oh, and don’t forget the after party!

The relay-style comp will be scored by an experienced panel of judges, thanks to the event partner Surfing NSW.
