Love your merino wool but always wondered what it’d be like if it had The North Face treatment? Nah, us neither, but we’re glad someone did!

Some of my gear from The North Face has been kicking around for over a decade now. The gear’s quality and it has a timeless look that never seems to go out of style (well, maybe that GUCCI collab).

So what happens when they team up with icebreaker, the brand behind almost all of my merino wool clothing? (Yes, even the decade-old leggings.)

Some damn-fine layers is the answer. It was only a few weeks ago that we showcased icebreaker’s 2024 range, now some of those 100% plastic-free items are available with The North Face style and branding. There’s even a hiking dress!

Here’s what launched online today.

The North Face × icebreaker Merino 200 RealFleece Zip Hoodie

Not like this hoodie needed a longer name but luckily the weight doesn’t carry through to the layer itself. In fact, the hoodie can pack into its own pocket, making for a packable, quick to deploy layer of merino goodness.

Available in black for men and women, as well as ‘lichen’ for men (a nice green) and ‘ether’ for women (more of a grey vibe). It’s a solid $170 more than the standard Descender hoodie though so you’ve gotta be a big collab fan.

The North Face × icebreaker Merino 200 SS Polo

I’m not sure if my deep hatred of polo shirts comes from mum forcing me to wear them or a deep desire to categorise things, something that polos resist.

For trail-to-boardroom Explorers, comfort-motivated golfers, and plastic-averse eshays, this 100% merino polo will be the goods.

It’s only available in a men’s cut in black or grey ether.

The North Face × icebreaker Merino 200 SS Tee

It’s a merino tee with a patch that says ‘The North Face | icebreaker’ and it looks really nice. There’s even a little pocket for snacks or cool rocks that you find.

I’ve gotta say, $179.99 is really quite a lot for a T-shirt, but it is cheaper than the aforementioned GUCCI collab.

It’s available for men and women, in black, or lichen for men and ether for women.

The North Face × icebreaker Merino Pants and Shorts

I’m not sure how much I agree with the ‘technical adventure pants’ description, I’d be looking for something a bit tougher.

However, I have a pair of icebreaker pants that I wear around camp, sauntering to the coffee shop, and everything in between, and they are elite.

I’d probably cop black though, that ether for men is looking pretty revealing here.

The women’s comes in a lovely burnt orange colour called ‘burlwood’.

The North Face × icebreaker Merino 200 Dress

Yep, made ya wait til last for this one! I reckon the merino 200 dress is on par with the RealFleece Zip Hoodie for highlight of the collection.

With ‘breathable merino waffle’ fabric, a cinch cord around the waist, and options of black or burlwood, this one’s sure to be a winner with dress lords like or Explorer Kate.
