Talk (Dirty) To Me About The Tech

Epic adventures require even more epic gear. Which is precisely why Marmot team up with brands like GORE-TEX, RECCO, Polartec, and PrimaLoft, and develop proprietary technologies to keep you moving through a wide range of outdoor activities. The endgame? The warmest winter coats, best rain jackets, and most versatile camping gear and hiking clothes out there.

If your idea of a good time is geeking out on the tech (no judgement here), have a geez at the Marmot tech download.

Celebrating 50 Years in ’24

What does an Alaskan glacier and a group of large, highly-social mountain squirrels have in common? They formed the beginning of the company we now know as Marmot, of course. It was in the April of ’71 that Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in Alaska’s Juneau Icefield when they decided to form a group called ‘The Marmots’ (after the aforementioned squirrels), and soon created their first products – one being a down sleeping bag rated at -7°C.

A few years and a couple more ‘Marmots’ added to the pack, saw the crew field testing sewn prototype sleeping bags using the new Gore-Tex fabric. And by field testing, we mean they spent seven nights in a commercial frozen meat locker comparing fabrics – as you do.

The results were in, they liked what they saw, and immediately changed everything in the line to Gore-Tex fabrications. 50 years on, Marmot is the oldest customer of W.L. Gore in the world outdoor market. And whether it’s your first climb or your 50th peak, we’ve got a feeling you lot are gonna love it, too.
