Planning and construction is well underway for a number of new walking experiences within the NSW’s Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area.

Part of a $49.5 million NSW Government Program, two new walking tracks are set to be created. A 5km family-friendly Lost City walking track and a more ambitious 35km Gardens of Stone multi-day walk.

In good news for hikers, the 5km family-friendly track is not far off with a scheduled unveiling late this year. Promising an immersive journey through the heart of nature, the track creators collaborated with local First Nations people to capture both the colourful mining history and Aboriginal cultural heritage of the area.

Meanwhile, construction of the 35km, four-day Gardens of Stone multi-day trail is set to commence this month, with the ambitious project unfolding in stages over two years. The initial 12km stretch promises to showcase eucalyptus forests, ferned gullies, and ancient pagoda formations towards the headwaters of Carne Creek.
