To celebrate Landcare Week, $1 from every Hawke’s Brewing Co. schooner sold between the 5th-11th of August will go straight to Landcare Australia.

When you buy a schooner at the Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre in Marrickville, Sydney this week, you’re supporting environmental causes without any extra out-of-pocket expenses. That’s a great reason to have a few bevvies with your mates.

The Hawke’s Brewing Co. Initiative

Bob Hawke – yes the 23rd Prime Minister of Australia – co-founded Hawke’s Brewing Co. back in 2017 with the promise that 100% of his royalties would be donated to Landcare Australia.

‘This business is particularly exciting because it combines a couple of my loves…beer and the environment’, Hawke said at the launch of the brewery in 2017.

Since its inception, this agreement has raised almost half a million dollars for community-based environment projects such as the East Coast Emu Project and The Mudcrabs, who have so far planted over 2000 native plants into 12 bush regeneration sites along the Cooks River. That’s all thanks to the money donated by Hawke’s Brewery Co.

Wednesday night is also Hawke’s ‘Local’s Night’, and The Mudcrabs will be hosting a meat raffle, with all proceeds going towards Landcare Australia.

About Landcare Australia

Landcare Australia works with local communities, governments, and organisations in capacity-building, on-ground projects, enabling people to actively care for the natural environment in their community.

Hawke was passionate about the environment, and under his government, Australia saw incredible progress in environmental protection practices. It was the Hawke Government that funded Landcare back in the late 80s, turning it into the national environmental champion it is today. As Bob said, ‘Progress doesn’t happen by accident’.

Landcare Australia is now one of the largest volunteer movements in Australia and the model has been adopted in over 20 countries.

Bit hard yakka surely deserves a frosty brew!

So go on, head down to the Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre in Marrickville and have one, maybe two bevs for the bush. Cheers mate!
