Outdoor app AllTrails has been named Apple’s 2023 iPhone App of the Year!

The free app – which is used by more than 60 million people worldwide – was awarded the top honour for ‘helping the world find their way outside’.

AllTrails beat two other finalists (and around 2 million other apps in the AppStore!) to snag the award at Apple’s annual App Store Awards. After a year of platform updates, new features, and prioritising UX, AllTrails has received the ultimate pat on the back for connecting more Explorers to the great outdoors.

What are the App Store Awards?

Apple’s annual App Store Awards shine a light on app and game developers who are providing users with meaningful experiences and inspiring cultural change.

If you’ve ever reached an epic trail summit or stood beneath a hidden waterfall thanks to an AllTrails route, you know the kind of meaningful experiences the app provides!

Ron Schneidermann, CEO of AllTrails, was pretty stoked with the win.

‘This is an incredible milestone and a testament to our ongoing work of connecting people of all backgrounds, skills, and experiences to the outdoors,’ he said.

AllTrails’ Mission to Share the Outdoors

Apple awarded AllTrails for the app’s outstanding approach to helping people explore the outdoors. The team behind the app are on a mission to share the outdoors with as many people in as many places as possible. Just like We Are Explorers!

The app has more than 420,000 curated trail routes across 191 countries – including thousands of trails in Australia and NZ! The handy reviews and tips let you get outdoor inspo from other Explorers across the world.

So with an App of the Year award tucked into their day pack, what’s next for this summit-conquering app?

‘We’re excited to continue to build our community and elevate their outdoor experiences with even more innovation in 2024,’ said CEO Ron Schneidermann.
