Want to go climbing next weekend but stuck to the confines of your home? No stress! Women Uprising have got your back, just like a good belayer should.

What is Women Uprising?

Women Uprising is a community aiming to empower femme climbers, no matter how they climb or how they identify.

The community is actively inclusive of all people who identify as women, including trans, non-binary, gender-queer and bi-gender women, and use ‘womxn’ to refer to all of these people. They actively include women of colour and of differing abilities, many of who play a huge role in their events.

Women Uprising hosted a bunch of epic climbing events in Vicco last year and now, in true pandemic style, they’ve thrown together a whole online climbing festival happening on a computer near you next weekend!

Virtual festival? How does that work?

Women Uprising’s Virtual Climbing Festival is happening from 9am to 5pm next Saturday, September 5th.

Your day will be filled with panel discussions, a film screening and climbing clinics. Choose your fav sessions from a myriad of adventure topics, including outdoor climbing etiquette, multi-pitch changeovers and investigating mental barriers while trad climbing.

There’s also a sneaky DJ sesh to wrap up the day the right way.

The entire festival is hosted by a bunch of badass womxn and features a bunch of successful climbing athletes too, so there’ll be no shortage of inspiration.

The beauty of this festival is that it’s all happening on Zoom, so no matter where you are in the country, you can join in on the fun.

Tickets are on sale now, and you can reserve your spot in your clinic of choice from this Saturday. Oh and don’t forget to join the Women Uprising Facebook group! That’s where the community really comes together.

Get (virtually) climbing!
