Wisemans Surf Lodge is set to be Australia’s first resort-style wave pool only an hour from the Sydney CBD on the Hawkesbury River.

Pretty soon Sydneysiders will be able to get barrelled 24/7/365, no matter what the swell’s doing.

Wisemans Surf Lodge, a 54 suite hotel, with a surfable wave pool four footy fields long, has just been given the big green tick of approval by the Hills Shire Council. Can you say ‘surf’s up’?

With waves powered by US tech company Surfloch, the pool will be able to generate up to 2.5m swell, in all sorts of shapes, as well as rides up to 10-12 seconds long. That’s more than enough time to hang those ten.

This place sounds fancy-schmancy, with a nine-hole golf course, restaurants, bars, and conference facilities all within the resort.

You won’t need to be a guest at the hotel to ride the waves, but you will need to be a member. No word yet on how much that’ll set you back each year.

Construction’s set to begin mid to late next year, with hopes to open in 2022. Until then I guess, just keep fighting it out at Bondi.
