Reeftip Drinks Co. is donating 10% of profits to the Coral Nurture Program – and it’s delicious too!

No really, I tried them all. In fact, I had to pump the brakes pretty hard because they were deadset the tastiest premix drinks I’ve ever wrapped my lips around.

Reeftip Drinks Co. launched this September with a bunch of tropical Queensland-inspired flavours; Ginger & Lime, Pineapple & Lime, and Mango & Coconut. All mixed with soda and Reeftip Spiced Rum for a bit of kick.

The brand’s based out of the Great Barrier Reef, which has led to some pretty self aware impact management. From recycled glass bottles and recycling water at the distillery to donating to the Coral Nurture Program, they’re not your average booze brand.

Alright, So How Do You Regrow A Reef?

There are four main ways that the Coral Nurture Program helps the reef:

  1. Working to protect existing coral through educating tour operators and working to establish responsible management and Marine Park regulations.
  2. Planting coral using a special device called Coralclip® to quickly attach coral to the reef (and really increase the impact of dives). Sometimes this can be done by optimising the growth of coral that’s already there.
  3. Propagating more healthy coral in nurseries. There are heaps of considerations, but significant coral can be grown to help regenerate a significantly damaged area.
  4. Increasing scientific understanding of coral and monitoring the Great Barrier Reef, which we still know very little about!

The program is a world-first that brings together coral scientists with reef tourism operators, working together to help boost coral stocks and protect a valuable natural asset. Tourism operators help remove coral predators like the Crown of Thorns starfish and Drupella snails, as well as educate tourists, share information, assist research and adhere to protection guidelines.

All this means that in a twelve month trial period the CNP planted out 20,000 corals across a range of nine sites with varying operator logistics and reef types. This is despite a downturn in visitors and reef trips due to COVID.

Helping Is Pretty Easy (And Tasty)
