Road tripping from Adelaide or Melbourne? A jour Road tripping from Adelaide or Melbourne?

A journey through @visitwimmeramallee has plenty to offer the curious Explorer.

While travelling through the Big Sky Country, @patricedlb and Jake, climbed Australia’s most iconic crag, stayed in historic homesteads, hopped between lakes of varying volumes and, most memorably, met some of the characters who call this place home.
Looking for your a challenge? @hikingbec has share Looking for your a challenge? @hikingbec has shared three hiking trails that will test even the toughest hikers in Victoria.

1. THE BOGONG FIGURE 8 LOOP (54km, 3-4 days)

One of Victoria’s most demanding alpine hikes. Expect relentless elevation gain and loss (3,345m up, 3,300m down), unpredictable weather, and serious remoteness. But the views? Absolutely worth it.

2. WILSON’S PROM NORTHERN CIRCUIT (60km, 4-5 days)

Often crowned as Victoria’s hardest multi-day hike. Non-existent trail, bush bashing in thick scrub, limited water sources, and very remote. This is a ‘one and done’ kind of adventure.

3.THE VIKING CIRCUIT (45km, 4 days)

Unmarked. Overgrown. Remote. 7L water carries. This brutal Victorian High Country loop is NOT for the faint-hearted. Even experienced hikers lose their way out here!

SAFETY FIRST: These trails are for experienced hikers only. Always carry a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon), comprehensive first aid kit, emergency shelter, and extra food/water. Let someone know your detailed plans and expected return time. Check weather forecasts and be prepared to turn back.

Read our full hiking safety guide at We Are Explorers (link in bio).
