Winners of The North Face Adventure Story Slam Share Their Tales of Misadventure – We Are Explorers Podcast Ep 20

A jaguar, a concussion, and ending up in just your jocks at the border are what’s to come in these adventure tales gone awry.

Last month The North Face held their inaugural Adventure Story Slam event in nipaluna/Hobart to celebrate the opening of their new store in town and meet some of the adventurous locals.

It was a night of good old fashioned storytelling ; speakers chucked their name in a hat, threw caution to the wind, and got up on stage to tell their tale in five minutes.

The theme of the night was ‘Misadventure in Wild Places’ and we just had to get our hands on the winners to hear the juicy stories for ourselves (and for you of course!).

Story 1: She’ll Be Right

Jack Saward got into some trouble with her brother at one of Tassie’s famous mountain bike parks, Maydena.

Story 2: Tranquilo

Next up is Sam Cramer who was deep in the Bolivian Amazon jungle with his girlfriend, some monkeys, a puma, and a jaguar. No, it’s not the start of a joke. You’ll just have to listen to Sam’s story to discover what happens, plus he does a bonus impersonation of a howler monkey that’s not to be missed. 

Story 3: Patagonian Blizzard

Last on the chopping block is James Hattam, an ecologist who made his way to Patagonia to see conservation through another lens, and walked himself right into some misadventure in a remote and icy national park.
