Perth is getting a surf park and it’s set to be the biggest one in the Southern Hemisphere!

Western Australia is one step closer to getting its first surf park as the WA Government announces its chosen developer, Aventuur, for the project. Surf is up my dudes!

The $80 million (!!!) park is planned to be built in Jandakot, just by the Cockburn Central train station.

It’ll feature a Wavegarden Cove surfing lagoon, which can create 25 different waves suitable for everyone from kooks and groms to hardcore barrelling frothers. And if you’re keen to level up your skillz, you could always join the onsite surf coaching academy.

But it won’t just be about the waves (who am I kidding, barrellz = lyf), there’ll be a hotel, co-working office (sign me up), function and event space, restaurants, beach club, the list goes on and on.

An estimated 200 jobs will be created during the construction of the park, with 100 people hoped to be employed there once it’s open.

Construction on the park is set to start late 2022, but you know how these things usually go. If everything runs to plan, you could be dropping in on machine-made waves by 2024, which ain’t actually that far away at all.
