Calling all Explorers with a camera or phone! This summer, NSW National Parks is hosting its inaugural photography competition, with nature escape holidays to be won!

The NSW National Parks Photo Competition is encouraging Explorers to get snap happy in national parks this summer in an effort to help showcase the diversity and splendour of NSW.

‘Our national parks protect spectacular landscapes and threatened wildlife, offering exceptional photo opportunities across the state, from brilliant beaches to majestic tall forests and our unique Outback,’ said Head of NSW National Parks, Atticus Fleming.

The photo comp is open from the 13th of December 2022 (that’s yesterday!) until 31st of January 2023, with four categories to enter your shots into, including;

  • Landscape and Vistas
  • Animals and Plants
  • Enjoying Nature
  • Remote Country

You don’t have to be a professional photographer to enter, in fact, you can even submit images taken on your phone!

‘Your photos will be showcased on a new webpage, helping to promote awareness of our national parks and support for conservation,’ Atticus said.

It’s all part of National Parks campaign with Destination NSW to help you ‘Find Your Path’ in NSW.

What’s up for grabs?

The winner of each of the four categories will get a holiday of their choice in selected national park accommodation from around the state, valued between $1,200 and $2,100.

The accommodation options are;

How do I enter?

All entries need to be submitted through the competition entry form. National Parks has said that any entries submitted via email or social media won’t be included.

All photos taken must be done so safely, with respect to cultural heritage, animals, and plants. Photos taken on a personal drone won’t be accepted.

There are no age limits to entry, however anyone under the age of 18 needs parental or guardian permission to enter. There’s also no limit on the number of photos you can enter, so long as each one was taken within land reserved by National Parks – so start snapping!

Need some inspo?

We can help with that! From epic national parks you probably haven’t heard of to the best places to find wildflowers close to Sydney and even an extensive list of NSW’s best natural wonders, our NSW destination page is pumping with unique places to get the best angle. Or maybe you just throw in the planning towel and road trip around the state without a plan and see where you land.

Whatever you do, just make sure to get out there and don’t leave the camera at home!
