Activewear brand lululemon is stepping into the world of hiking gear with their eye-catching and adaptable lululemon HIKE kit. We had a first look at the funky new range.

lululemon’s a well-known brand in the yoga-sphere, but they’ve taken a huge leap into outdoor adventure and we’re totally here for their new HIKE Range. Encouraging people to slow down and soak up the outdoors with the tagline Stray Awhile, the range inspires others to embrace what we as Explorers all know – a hike is about the adventure, the journey, the detours, and the stories you take away.

Convertible, packable, and water-resistant – we’re talking quick-dry fabrics, removable sleeves, and compactable gear made for chilly morning mountain tops and long hikes under the summer sun. We were lucky enough to take the new gear out in Granite Country, traditional lands of the Jukambal, Bundjalung, and Kamilaroi peoples. Let’s take a look at what’s on offer.

LiftOS™ Hiking Backpack 25L

Our favourite feature: weight distribution technology to relieve pressure points

Embracing the detours is all about packing for those impromptu overnight hikes, and lululemon has you covered with the lightweight LiftOSTM Hiking Backpack

It’s 25L in size and features strategically placed straps designed to, literally, take the pressure off by recalibrating weight distribution and relieving pressure points. If that’s not enough, the curved back panel adds additional lumbar support, which we all know is welcome on any hike (and the next day!).

Grid Fleece Hiking Overshirt

Our favourite feature: longer length ensures your back stays warm and protected no matter the activity

Starting your hike in the chilling AM hours, your toughest decision is often whether to brave the cold for a few hours or risk overdressing and sweating it out once the sun has hit its zenith. Solution? A throwback to our 90s wardrobe with the Grid Fleece Hiking Overshirt.

Featuring mesh fabric that’s quick-drying and breathable, and a multitude of handy hidden pockets, this oversized shirt is just at home on a hike as it is your local coffee haunt.

Whether you’re drying off, cooling down, or trudging through mud, the pant legs zip on and off with ease, while the zippered cuff means you won’t even have to remove your shoes. Win!

Power Stride Hiking Crew Sock

Our favourite feature: Ergonomic foot-specific design for ultra comfort

Any hiker or trail runner knows a good pair of socks (quite literally) go a long way, and the Power Stride Hiking Crew Sock is just as impressive as the name suggests. With PerformaHeelTM technology, the sock provides stretch and cushioning while also moulding to your foot so they stay in place no matter what you put your feet through.

Our favourite feature: cinch closure and clip features to customise capacity

As a home for camping gear, first aid kits and, most importantly, snacks – a good backpack is the MVP for any hiker. Patch Logo Crossbody Bag

Our favourite feature: water-repellent fabric for those oh-no moments

Made for quick day hikes, urban escapes, or to store valuables inside your backpack, this lightweight, water-repellent satchel-inspired Patch Logo Crossbody Bag is all about versatility.

Small enough to stash, while also featuring adjustable shoulder straps, the kaleidoscopically coloured bag helps to keep everything on hand, so you can go hands-free. We reckon you’ll find a use for this well beyond the national park.

Ventilated Hiking Short Sleeve

Our favourite feature: Seams that aren’t placed under your backpack strap – genius!

We’ve all been there, those long hikes in cheap fabric tees. You’re somehow both hot and cold as the midday sweat dries and the chill of evening settles in. If you haven’t learned the secret and importance of sweat-wicking and quick-drying fabric this Ventilated Hiking Short Sleeve shirt is a great place to start.

With mesh underarm gussets (your partner will thank you later), and strategically placed seams that prevent your backpack straps from rubbing, lululemon has done their research on what a hiker wants.
