Intrepid Travel have launched a whole new range of local adventure tours so you can explore all the beauty of your backyard and help out local communities in one sweet holiday.

Intrepid Local

Tour and good times provider Intrepid Travel have just launched Intrepid Local – a new collection of over 75 tours across AUS, NZ and Europe for those of us who are keen to get out and explore the wonders of our own backyard (AKA everybody).

These local tours have been specially curated to empower and support local communities who’ve been hit hard by the pandemic, backing one of Intrepid’s core values of using travel as a force for good.

Not only that, all of the Intrepid Local tours are 100% carbon-offset and created to leave a low environmental footprint, so you can take that trip knowing you’re helping, not harming the places you visit.

Sarah Clark is the Global Project Lead for the Intrepid Local initiative and is super stoked with how Intrepid have reacted to the dramatic shift away from international travel.

‘We wanted to create a product range for locals by locals, that would not only bring travellers back together after months of isolation, but also give them a way to support their own communities and businesses rebounding from the pandemic,’ she says.

How epic!

From a two day tour of South Australia’s Kangaroo Island to a six day expedition through the heart of the Western Kimberley, each tour has been designed with the local community and grassroots travel in mind.

Intrepid Retreats and Tailored Tours

If constantly being on the move isn’t quite your idea of a holiday, Intrepid have also launched Intrepid Retreats. These multi-day trips allow you to really settle into one prime location, with boutique accommodation and authentic local experiences the prime purpose of the trip.

Whether it’s a five day excursion deep into the Daintree Rainforest, or four days lapping up the beauty of Tassie’s Bay of Fires, an Intrepid Retreat will immerse you in one dream location.

If you’re after something a little more personal, Intrepid also offers tailor-made and private group tours, perfect for your first adventure back together with your mates.

Intrepid have recognised that the nature of travel has changed and probably won’t be going back to normal for quite a while.

‘We predict a style of travel will emerge post-pandemic toward slow and grounded travel, where travellers will want to engage with local communities,’ Clark said. ‘More than a response to a new world of travel, Intrepid sees this range as an evolution of our product range to be more sustainable and offer climate conscious short haul travel.’

We like the sound of that!
