Hobbiton is officially on Airbnb – but only a few lucky hobbits will have the chance to spend the night.

In celebration of the tenth anniversary of The Hobbit, the original picturesque filming location in New Zealand’s North Island will be opened for a few exclusive overnight stays.

The original movie set used to portray The Shire™ resides on a 2,500 acre working farm in the Waikato region, and owner Russell Alexander has invited guests to his family’s farm to celebrate the occasion.

But beds are limited! There are only three two-night stays up for grabs, each for up to four guests, but it’ll only set you back $10 NZD a night, thanks to Airbnb.

The handful of lucky hobbits will delight in exploring 44 hobbit holes, the Green Dragon Inn, and the Millhouse. They’ll be treated to an evening banquet, their own personal hobbit holes for downtime and afternoon tea, and of course, Second Breakfast™ and Elevenses™ will be served daily.

Plus guests will be given a private behind-the-scenes tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set.

How do I book?

Bookings are exclusive and will open at 8am AEDT on Wednesday 14th of December on Airbnb. Pencil that in!

Stays will happen in 2nd-4th of March, 9th-11th of March, and 16th-18th of March 2023.

Guests can only book one of these stays, with a total of four guests. You must have a verified Airbnb profile, plus a history of positive reviews.

Guests will have to make their own way to Auckland, but from there, a car will be supplied to make the round trip to Middle-Earth and back.
