The Jervis Bay area is my favourite place in Australia – golden sands, turquoise oceans, and calm vibes make this place a slice of paradise. But did you know there’s a cool-as-hell hidden cliffside tunnel to explore as well?

What is Gosang’s Tunnel?

Located in Currarong, close to Jervis Bay, Gosang’s Tunnel is a 20m long passage that opens up to reveal seriously breathtaking cliff and ocean views.

I discovered this hidden treasure on a Christmas camping trip with a group of friends when we needed a nice-and-easy bushwalk to shake off the vino from the night before.

Gosang’s Tunnel proved to be a perfect choice. We followed an easy (aka flat) 4.9km hike past stunning coastal views and in amongst beautiful native scrubland, before clambering through the tunnel, (mind your head) and taking in the crashing waves below us.

On a sunny Saturday in the Christmas holidays, we were the only ones there, thanks to the half-hour drive needed to get there from tourist hub Huskisson. Definitely worth the drive.

Swimming at Mermaid Inlet

If you’re keen for a dip while you’re there, walk back through the tunnel and on to Mermaids Inlet (yes it is as magical as it sounds). Don’t forget your togs!

An added bonus of the trip is the fact that you get to park at Abrahams Bosom Reserve car park and walk past Bosom Beach. Yep. I know. I’m a child. What can I say?

Essential Gear

  • Swimmers and towel if you fancy stopping at any of the beaches along the way
  • Lunch – What better place to spend lunchtime than on your own hidden rock shelf?
  • Grippy shoes for walking
  • Water
  • Hat and sunscreen

How To Get There

Park your car at Abrahams Bosom Reserve car park located at Gerringong St, Beecroft Peninsula and follow the signs to Gosang’s Tunnel.

Skill Level

The hike is easy although care will be needed when climbing through the tunnel. Also, stay away from the edge of the cliffs when you get through. It’s one hell of a drop.
