Two limited-edition designs have been released with only 100 pieces each, once they’re gone that’s it!

To celebrate NAIDOC week, Fractel have teamed up with artists Ambrose Killian, a proud Eastern Arrernte and Wahlabul man, and Jadeen Chisholm, an Eastern Arrernte and Alyawarre woman to create two vibrant hat designs that embody unity and connection.

The Hats

M SERIES ‘DIFFERENT MOBS’ Cap

Designer: Jadeen Chisholm
Fabric: 100% recycled polyester excluding trims.
Size: 54cm – 66cm (One size fits most)

To Jadeen, an Eastern Arrernte and Alyawarre woman, the ‘DIFFERENT MOBS’ Cap symbolises diversity within this country and the coming together of tribes and different demographics to create community.

‘Culture is important to me because it’s a part of who I am. It’s important to continue to learn from elders to pass culture and traditions down, keeping it alive for many generations to come.

I enjoy practising culture through painting, weaving, representing through sports and being selected for the Australian Indigenous Football team. I also have extensive experience working with kids and enjoy teaching and guiding our youth in all things cultural!’

M SERIES ‘ALEPE’ Cap

Designer: Ambrose Killian
Fabric: 100% recycled polyester excluding trims.
Size: 54cm – 66cm (One size fits most)
Weight: 59 grams

The term ‘ALEPE’ means firesticks and the bespoke artwork represents a birds-eye view of firesticks and ceremonies at night time.

The designer and Eastern Arrernte and Wahlabul man, Ambrose Killian, said art is a big part of how he connects with culture and Country.

I have always been a day dreamer and drawer, finding myself stuck sketching and drawing from a very young age –it was and always will be my vessel for communicating, connecting to Apmere/ Country and translating and sharing stories of myself, my ancestors and the notion of ‘Country’.

Art and creating has always been my safe space, letting me share my feelings and stories in a realm that lacks judgement and is only limited to one’s imagination.’
