Hosted by Blue Mountains Sauna in Leura and supported by the Australian Sauna Association, The Big Sweat is a weekend dedicated to reconnecting with the things modern life too often pulls us away from: ourselves, each other, and the simple things that make us feel human. Through the shared ritual of sauna, we aim to bring people together for a weekend of presence, community, nature, learning, movement and joy, while celebrating the culture that is growing around sauna across Australia.

The weekend will feature five saunas, each offering a unique experience. From traditional Finnish sauna and guided Aufguss ceremonies to quieter, more meditative sessions, there will be something for every kind of sauna-goer. Beyond the heat, enjoy live music, Pilates, yoga, breathwork, talks, workshops, games and delicious food throughout the weekend.

Australia’s sauna culture is still young, but it’s growing quickly. The Big Sweat is where that emerging culture gathers in one place to celebrate how far we’ve come, connect with one another, and help shape what comes next.

The weekend also celebrates four years of Blue Mountains Sauna championing authentic sauna culture in Australia, along with the launch of their Savu sauna (smoke sauna), the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
