Grab your paddle and your pushie cause the Baw Baw Extreme multisport race is making its debut this April!

Baw Baw Shire in the Victorian High Country is hosting a brand new 84km multisport race, that combines kayaking, mountain biking, and trail running into one epic weekend of adventure – introducing, Baw Baw Extreme

Over the weekend of April 16-18 2021, adventure athletes will run, ride, and paddle from the gold-mining town of Walhalla along the undulating race course, to finish at Baw Baw Resort, ascending over 2km as they go.

Sound extreme? There’s a race option for adventurers of all fitness and experience levels;

For the fighting fit among us, the Premier One Day Solo category will see you race the entire 84km course in a single day, non-stop, with the chance to take home part of the $4000 cash prize pool.

If you’re more of a recreational athlete, there’s the option of completing the course over two days, with an overnight stay in Erica.

Or if you’re just in it for a bit of fun, the team/relay option could be the way to go! Grab four of your most adventurous mates and take on one of the five legs of the race each.

Leg 1 – 5km run from Walhalla to Thompson Railway Station
Leg 2 – 14km paddle of Thompson River with grade 1+ rapids
Leg 3 & 4 – 40km mountain bike course on 4WD roads, rail trail and Erica Mountain Bike Park broken into two parts
Leg 5 – 25km trail run along Australian Alps Walking Trail

For serious athletes taking on the entire course in a single day, it’s expected to take up to nine hours to complete.

The event aims to not only empower adventurous athletes, but also showcase the incredible natural beauty of the Baw Baw Shire. The course passes by the stunning Mushroom Rocks, as well as Talbot Peak and Mt Erica and cruises along the Thompson River.
