In this episode of Act Local, you’ll meet the local legends defending koala habitat from Sydney’s urban sprawl.

In May 2022, Australia’s cutest native animal, the koala, was declared an endangered species by the NSW Government as urban sprawl and land-hungry property developers continue to destroy koala habitat.

Enter the Sydney Basin Koala Network! It’s an organisation that uses scientific consultation and citizen science programs to protect koala habitat in the Sydney Basin, an area between NSW’s Central Coast and the Illawarra.

In this episode of Act Local, Cam goes koala spotting with Sydney Basin Koala Network’s Stephanie Carrick and Jade Peace, who explain how humans can better coexist with our cuddly native animals.

Do you dream of owning a house one day but want to enjoy the pastime of heading out to the bush and spotting koalas with your kids? Then this episode is for you.
