Hey Wollongong, you just scored a new mountain bike park with views of the ocean and Lake Illawarra!

As part of the city’s new label as a UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) Bike City, Wollongong has just opened Cringila Hills Bike Park, just a 10 minute drive from the centre of the city.

The bike park makes up part of the larger Cringila Hills Recreation Park and includes almost 12km of new mountain bike trails for a range of skill levels from beginner to advanced, and another 2.5km of walking tracks.

The park is totally free to use and is open seven days a week, that means afternoon microadventures!

‘We have a strong mountain biking community and we’re pleased to be able to provide a wonderful set of formal trails for riders to enjoy and develop their skills on,’ said Wollongong City Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery. ‘Wollongong is now a Bike City and it’s an exciting place to be a lover of pedal power.’

To top it all off, there’ll soon be a jumps park, an asphalt pump track, and a bike skills playground, all within the recreation park, so you can practice scrubs and wheelies to your heart’s content.

Some of the tracks are still in the final stages of construction and should be complete by the end of the year.
