Bookabach has just announced the winners of the 2020 Bach of the Year Awards and honestly, someone grab us some paper towel, cause we droolin’ over here.

Is it too soon to start dreaming about our next trip to New Zealand? Probably, but when the best baches in the country are being paraded around for everyone to ogle at, it’s pretty difficult to not drift into a sun-drenched day dream.

Bookabach is the very Kiwi version of AirBnB where you can book baches, the often modest New Zealand holiday home or beach house. But let me tell ya, when you see these baches, ‘modest’ is not the word that’ll jump to mind.

The winners are chosen based on a combo of their reviews and ratings on the site, plus where Kiwi travellers have been most keen to spend their dollars.

Let’s indulge ourselves for a minute.

Bronze – Karaka Cottage

Situated on the north coast of the South Island just near Nelson (and the stunning Abel Tasman National Park), this bungalow sleeps four people, right on the water of Waimea Inlet.

Silver – Hot Pool Hideaway Views

With views over Lake Taupo on the North Island (and an internal thermal hot pool, what) this fancy pants bach can sleep six people and is in prime position to enjoy all the unique wonders of the lake.

Gold – Boat Shed at Tarawera

Winner winner, lakefront dinner! This bach sleeps 11 people and backs onto Lake Tarawera on the North Island. I think the photos can do the talking from here.

Check out the other finalists and if you’re lucky enough to be kicking it in New Zealand, why not treat yourself? Go on, you deserve it.
