Let’s be honest, carbon offsetting is nothing new, but having the retailer foot the bill? Well that’s an unexpected and welcome change.

Choosing to take the road less travelled, outdoor gear retailer Wild Earth will offset the carbon emissions of every product sold, and cover 100% of the cost. But, here’s the real kicker, they’ll also give you the power to choose where the carbon offsets go.

Whether you’re passionate about preserving Australian landscapes or protecting Bornean orangutans, Wild Earth has you covered. Each project holds its own unique impact on the environment and society, letting you take the reigns and choose from;

Pretty rad right?

The bold move has been made possible by partnering with Klean, a third-party specialist in calculating carbon footprints for retail that help calculate Scope One and Two carbon emissions.

‘This means we will offset the carbon emissions from all our operations including electricity, company vehicles, waste, packaging, and order shipping just to name a few,’ Wild Earth explains.

Wild Earth’s Other Sustainability Initiatives

Not one to lie on its laurels, Wild Earth has been a loud and proud sustainability advocate, even calling out greenwashing in the past.

Wild Earth explains, ‘We are proud to be a company that has always believed that actions speak louder than words and we’ve been working behind the scenes on various sustainability initiatives over the years. It’s a work in progress and we are constantly striving to do better’.

Some of these initiatives include;

  • Partnering with other eco-conscious brands like Patagonia and Australia’s own XTM Performance
  • Environmentally friendly packaging for all orders meeting the Global Recycling Standard to minimise environmental impact
  • Harnessing solar power across the Distribution Centre, Burleigh Heads Retail Store, and Head Office which makes up 60% of all the company’s power usage

So, the next time you shop at Wild Earth, feel free to give yourself a pat on the back. You may be making a dent in the wallet but at least your purchase is doing a little good for the planet along the way.
