Less than two weeks ago, we launched our Protect The Daintree crowdfunding campaign to raise $25,000, purchase a hectare of land in the Daintree Rainforest, return it to the Daintree Rainforest National Park and protect it forever.

10 days later and we’ve done it! $25,000 in the bag and one luscious hectare of rainforest in the national park (well, ASAP).

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who donated to the cause and spread the word. We’ve been absolutely blown out of the water with the generosity of our supporters and the speed with which this sum was raised. So we thought, why stop here? Let’s see just how much rainforest we can protect.

We’ve made a few enquiries and now have our sights set on Lot 390 Maple Road, Cow Bay. Another hectare of land that was excluded from the Daintree Rainforest National Park in the 1980s and that we’d love to be able to protect forever. This property has 145 species of plants, including the vulnerable Ant Plant and Climbing Pandanus. It’s also been identified as essential habitat for the endangered Southern Cassowary. So there’s plenty of reasons to protect it!

We’re continuing to work with Rainforest 4 Foundation to keep a good thing going and we want you to keep it going too! We still have 16 days remaining of our campaign – more time than it took to raise the first $25,000 – so we’re sure we can do it again!

Share the campaign, hassle your mates to donate and with a little luck, soon we’ll have the whole rainforest protected.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped out so far! We couldn’t have done this without you. Let’s keep it up!
