Muogamarra Nature Reserve, at Cowan just north of Sydney, only opens for six weeks each year while the native wildflowers are in bloom, and you have to book to see them!

With over 900 species of native wildflowers on display, Muogamarra Nature Reserve is an incredibly popular place to be, come springtime!

The reserve bursts to life with an array of colourful and curiously names blooms like, ‘Flower Girl White’, ‘Common Fringe-Lily’, and ‘Eggs and Bacon’. It’s also a stellar spot to witness the striking NSW floral emblem, the waratah.

For a Limited Time Only

The reserve opens for a limited time each year in order to preserve the fragile ecosystem and the significant Aboriginal cultural heritage found nearby.

That’s why the reserve will only open from Saturday 12th of August to Sunday 17th of September 2023. A booking is the only way visitors can access the reserve and early bookings are essential as daily numbers are capped!

Book a Self-Guided or Guided Tour

There are a few booking options available for visitors who are keen to witness the wildflower display and the views out to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

You can take a self-guided tour of the reserve on any of the Sundays during the season and select Saturdays.

If you’re after a deeper insight into the area, there are a bunch of guided tours available, all led by experienced NPWS volunteers. These tours take on different trails of varying lengths, durations, difficulties, and costs.
