Our pals at Emu Trekkers just took home gold at the NSW Tourism Awards for Adventure Tourism. You little ripper!

Don’t cha just love it when the people doing good in the world get recognised for it? Absolutely warms the soul. And it’s even better when it’s some of our good mates.

Emu Trekkers is a 100% not-for-profit hiking tour company based in Sydney and the Blue Mountains. The completely volunteer-run organisation has only been in operation for two years, but has grown massively in that time. They offer both day and overnight treks, entirely guided by over 50 volunteers.

‘We are doctors, lawyers, retirees, students, scientists, engineers and marketers, among many other things,’ said Shannon Macready, one of the group’s senior volunteers.

What makes Emu Trekkers extra special is the fact that 100% of the proceeds from their hikes and tours goes to helping kids, through the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and UNICEF. How good is that?!

‘In the last year we were able to raise more than $60,000 for our partners, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and UNICEF Australia,’ Macready said.

What a deserving win! Give yourselves a pat on the back and keep up the tip-top work!

Now Emu Trekkers go on to join other NSW winners at the annual Australian Tourism Awards in Canberra in March 2020. Best of luck guys!
