How important is it to get outdoors?

With the average Australian spending 90% of their time indoors and kids ‘glued to their screens’ for up to ten hours a day, according to the Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Association, getting outdoors is crucial for boosting our physical and emotional wellbeing.

The Nature Conservancy Australia says spending time in nature and ‘greendesking’ (the practice of working in the natural environment) for just 30 minutes a day can have a positive impact on mental health states such as anxiety and depression. Greendesking can be as simple as a walk in the park to come up with a creative idea for a new project, taking your reading material to a shady tree or holding a meeting outdoors instead of inside the usual four walls.
