We’re looking for a Social Media Manager to lead We Are Explorers’ social media strategy through content and promotion that drives audience engagement and growth. The Role

We’re offering a rare and exciting opportunity for a creatively minded person to take the reins of all social media for our fast growing travel media brand. Working with some of the most exciting brands on the planet, you’ll be creating and curating content in a variety of forms to drive high impact results for us and our clients. The role works across our two core offerings: the digital publisher (We Are Explorers) and content production studio (Explorer Studios). 

Reporting into the Head of Editorial, we’re looking for a values-driven, ambitious individual who can take our brand to the next level.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, execute and manage our social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Linkedin and Pinterest
  • Curate, create, plan and post all content into all platform calendars
  • Manage and execute our paid ad strategy across Facebook Ads Manager and report on campaigns.
  • Be We Are Explorers’ social media guru – staying on top of all trends and changes in the social media world and identifying new opportunities to connect more deeply with our audience.
  • Work closely with our editorial team to morph storytelling for organic and sponsored social posts in a variety of visual formats.
  • Grow and manage our rapidly growing crew of content creators and contributors across the region (called our Explorer Network).
  • Build the Explorer Community – recruit new members and create meet-ups around the country. This will involve developing leading Explorers in other states too, and providing everything they need to grow the networks across the country.
  • Support the curation and maintenance of the We Are Explorers merch store.
  • Set the visual aesthetic for the We Are Explorers platform across all mediums.
  • Produce fresh social-first content ideas that stand out online. 
  • Share regular updates with the team on progress, trends and opportunities.
  • Developing our international growth into new territories.


  • 2-3 years minimum experience working in a social media role (client, agency or ideally publisher side)
  • Expert knowledge and passion for the power of social media networks, and how best to leverage them.
  • Successful track record in building, implementing and optimising paid social campaigns.
  • Experience managing communities across a variety of social media platforms.
  • Excellent copywriting skills are essential to nail our tone of voice.
  • Video editing, photo editing and design skills via the Adobe creative suite (Photoshop, Lightroom Illustrator, Premiere) are highly desired.
  • Highly organised and structured in how you balance workloads
  • A fun and collaborative team player with exceptional communication skills.
  • An out-of-the-box thinker with a wild imagination, approaching work with high-energy, drive and ambition
  • A love for pitching tents in wild places and embracing our outdoor adventure playground.
