If you’ve ever driven on any road, anywhere in Australia, the likelihood is that you’ve seen a Wicked Camper cruising along adorned with some offensive slogan or other. Well, their days are about to be numbered.

With taglines like ‘Get your tits out and we’ll call it quits’, ‘A wife…an attachment you screw on the bed to get the housework done’ and ‘I’ve often wanted to drown my troubles but I can’t get my wife to go swimming’, it’s easy to see how Wicked Campers aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. To put it mildly.

Wicked Camper’s Ongoing Offence

The campervan hire brand has been offending Aussies for quite some time now. In January, Ad Standards found a van with the words ‘Masturbation is the only thing that isn’t taxed’ to be inappropriate, and they’re consistently receiving complaints from the public.

A few years back Tasmania, Queensland, and the ACT took a stance and passed legislation that meant vehicles which featured offensive slogans could be deregistered.

But Wicked Campers weren’t going down easily. They got around the laws simply by registering the vans in other states. But now, the rest of Australia is stepping up and introducing their own bans.

Banning Sexism On Australia’s Roads

The new laws mean that vehicles will have to stand up to the same standards as any other form of advertising. No racism, no sexism, no homophobia. You know, just the basic rules of society.

If a vehicle is found to break the rules it can be referred to Ad Standards for review, with the vehicle deregistered and impounded if the company doesn’t do a wicked job in fixing it pronto.

In a statement, South Australian Transport Minister Stephan Knoll, said: ‘This national agreement we’ve achieved means we’ll be able to solve this problem once and for all.’
