Jon Harris may well have found the world’s most brilliant boat trip for Explorer Challenge #25. The sand in Jervis Bay is whiter than a drug-lords coffee table, and the area really has to seen to be believed. It’s 3 hours south of Sydney and I’m salivating just writing this. This is Jon’s day adventure:

My partner, Kate, her father, his wife and I went out on Jervis Bay on her father’s boat for the day. We put in at Husky boat ramp, then cruised down along the western edge of the bay towards Booderee National Park. Then looped up towards Honeymoon bay, stopped on a northern beach for lunch and a swim, then back to Husky.

Jervis Bay

The weather was magic! Blue skies, turquoise water, white sands. Saw dolphins, pelicans and massive stingrays at the boat ramp. Magical views along the bays edge, particularly around Booderee – Green Patch, Hole in the Wall, Murray’s Beach and Bowen Island. Having a swim at a gorgeous little beach up north.

Even if there’s a little bit of wind around, you’ll always find a protected area to yourself if you want to drop the anchor and go for a swim! And don’t forget your camera! I’ve got a couple more trips planned for this year… Anglesea and the Victorian Alps at Easter in my van. Hanging out in Noosa for a couple of days in May. Then on a surf safari to Sri Lanka in September!

Check out Jon’s website for more captivating shots from around NSW.
