We Are Explorers is an indie media company on a mission to encourage Australians to live more adventurously and protect our natural world. We’re a BCorp publisher and content studio that connects brands with Australians through the lens of adventure, travel, and conservation. We offer unrivaled access for brands wanting to connect with modern-day explorers with authenticity and impact. Current clients include Tourism Australia, Jeep, Casio, The North Face and Bank Australia.

We’re looking for an experienced Sales Manager to grow our media brand and content production studio through long-term partnerships. If you’re a successful and solutions-focused sales professional in the media space with a genuine passion for travel, adventure, and the natural world, then read on.

The Role

We’re offering an amazing opportunity for an entrepreneurially minded-individual to spearhead our sales function; to strategise and generate new business for our two core offerings: the digital publisher (We Are Explorers) and content production studio (Explorer Studios). Typical projects include digital media campaigns, content partnerships with brands/agencies and outdoor film production. 

Reporting to the CEO, we’re looking for a values-driven, ambitious individual who is looking for an opportunity to drive partnerships with some of the most exciting brands on the planet.

Key responsibilities

  • Respond to briefs through insightful and creative ideas, alongside the campaign team
  • Generate new opportunities through strategic outreach in order to meet revenue targets 
  • Manage our direct and agency clients whilst building new relationships through strategic outreach and existing contacts.
  • Build Explorer Studios as a standalone content agency across film/photo production, including proactive selling of own storytelling formats.
  • Collaborate with the Production, Editorial and Social teams to deliver premium & creative solutions for every client.
  • Ownership of sales strategy, pipeline management and revenue reporting through CRM software.
  • Work with the CEO to identify and grow new revenue streams whilst increasing our market share.
  • Become a key WAE ambassador within the industry and bring our vision to life.


  • 3-5+ years sales experience (ideally at a digital publisher or media agency) with a passion for brand partnerships.
  • Proven track record in successfully engaging new clients and maintaining successful long term partnerships to meet sales targets.
  • Demonstrated fresh and creative approach to ideation, proposals and presentations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and client management skills 
  • Highly motivated and process-driven self starter with a love for team collaboration.
  • A genuine love for nature, travel and great outdoors – a passion for what our brand stands for is absolutely essential.
  • Out-of-the-box thinker with a wild imagination, approaching work with curiosity, empathy and integrity.
  • Existing contacts in media agencies, destination brands and/or adventure brands are highly desired.
