New Zealand’s highest mountain Aoraki/Mount Cook is known for its epic views and jagged peak, but did you know it’s also home to a freaky-looking human face?

The face – which looks like Lord Voldemort trying to escape a snowstorm – was seen earlier this month by local pilot Chris Rudge.

It’s not the first time the face has been seen though, with the first sighting back in 2009. In 2018 someone also spotted it from Kea Point Walk.

The fact that it comes and goes is most likely down to snow coverage, lighting (apparently it’s more clear in the setting sun), and your propensity to see weird faces in inanimate objects.

Chris told local New Zealand news site Stuff that it’s ‘quite remarkable’.

We reckon it’s heckin’ spooky. If you’re visiting the area and manage to snap this face-on-the-face be sure to send us your photo!
