For one action-packed day on the 3rd December, a venue in Sydney transforms into a buzzing hive of adventure; global outdoor brands share their latest in female gear and tech, adventurers share their hard-earned stories on stage and workshops from knot-tying to foraging pop up left, right and centre. It’s an opportunity to network, learn and celebrate the outdoors.
“After the success of our first event in November 2016, we’re returning for an even bigger and better event this year,” says She Went Wild’s founder, Emma Walker, “This event is curated by women, to aid inspiring and empowering more female adventurists; of any age and background.”
I personally attended the event last year and as soon as I stepped foot inside I was struck by the energy emitting from post to pillar. There was this wonderful sense of excitement in the air, as if a tribe of long-lost friends had been brought together to celebrate.
The talks were packed out with the curious minded, event sponsors were engulfed by enthusiastic explorers firing an arsenal of questions at them. It was crazy and it would be a crime for this event to not come back for round 2.
The rapid increase in female-focused adventure communities over the last couple of years (Travel Play Live, Women Want Adventure and Wild Women On Top to name a few in NSW alone) is testament to a thriving market that is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
This collective force is empowering women around the country to inject more adventure into their lives, pushing personal boundaries and opening up a fresh new world of possibility. We totally dig that.
