The Lowdown
Located 4.5 hours away from Perth, Albany has so much to offer for the weekend adventurer. From canola fields in late winter/early spring to copious uninhabited beaches there is enough sites to see to keep you coming back time and time again. But most exciting for us adventurers is the climb of Bluff knoll.
Bluff Knoll is located in the Stirling Range National Park approximately 80 km east of Albany. A national park entry fee of $12 is all you need to climb. The hike to the summit is 3.6km, taking you to an elevation of 1099m.
I started the hike late in the day (3:30pm) with the intention of summiting then making a quick descent. Clouds from the imminent storm provided a spectacular light show as we reached the half way point of the climb.
